Internet Invents an Interesting Holiday3 March 2006 The changes the internet has made to society are very easy to see everyday. Today everyone has their own blog and they download media to their iPod, but it turns out that the internet is capable of something totally unique, it can create holidays.
A few years ago radio disc jockey Tom Birdsey came up with an idea for a new holiday called Steak and Blowjob Day. The holiday first began as a joke on Birdsey?s radio station 103.7 FNX in Providence, Rhode Island. It was not until the idea was promoted on the internet did Steak and a Blowjob Day really blow up.
Steak and Blowjob Day happens on March 14th, for those of you who don?t know, that is exactly one month after Valentines Day. This is the reason why the underground holiday has been dubbed the Male Version of Valentines Day.
"The word is already beginning to spread, but as with any new idea, it needs a little push to start the ball rolling. So spread the word, and help bring love and peace to this crazy world. And, of course, steak and bjs,? explained Birdsey.
Word about Steak and Blowjob Day has spread pretty far, considering that it has only been around for the last three years. The holiday has received attention in the media, both in traditional media and in the online world.
Today internet users can send Steak and Blowjob Day Cards to their loved ones email inbox. Patrons of the March 14th celebration can also buy clothing, coffee mugs and more items with the holiday?s branding it.
With the success of Steak and a Blowjob Day one can only imagine what holiday the internet will start next.
