Keira Knightley Denies Eating Disorder Rumors5 July 2006 Along with the many camera flashes along the red carpet at the London premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest, came questions about the film?s leading lady Keira Knightley and her weight. Many at the premier thought Keira Knightley?s revealing dress showcased a skeleton-like figure. Keira Knightley has denied any reports that she is suffering from an eating disorder and was deeply surprised when she heard her name mentioned with anorexia rumors.
"[The press] said to me yesterday, 'How does it feel to be called anorexic?' and I had no idea that I was. I can safely say that I'm not," she said at a press conference.
A lot of people complemented Keira Knightley on her weight loss, while others were not as positive about the weight, saying that it is unhealthy and looks bad for children whom look up to her.
"Whatever people say about my weight they are all wrong," explained Keira Knightley. "Hollywood is all about the way you look and I don't think that's the healthy thing for anyone. But if you're strong and comfortable with yourself then you're going to be fine."
Keira Knightley added that she is very familiar with eating disorders and that is why these rumors are really hard to believe.
"I've got a lot of experience with anorexia--my grandmother and great-grandmother suffered from it, and I had a lot of friends at school who suffered from it," she said. "I know it's not something to be taken lightly and I don't."
In addition to starring in the upcoming summer blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest, Keira Knightley will be the new face for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle fragrance and will appear in their advertisements in the next year.
